Woge – (vogue) – the act of changing between human and wessen form.
Wesen – (vessin) – animal like creatures visible to Grimms.
Fuchsbau – (fooksbow)- a fox like wessen with orange and white fur and pointed ears. They also gain sharp canine teeth and a black nose.
Grimm – a special person who possesses powers such as being able to see the true form of wesen even when the wesen doesn’t want them to. They hunt the wesen population to protect normal humans.
I fumble with my keys trying to get the door open, like I always do. I don’t have any explanation for doing this, but it doesn’t stop me. I find the right key and twist it carefully and open the door. I reach out to turn on the light and end up struggling to find the switch but finally find it.
I load my groceries into the hallway and start to divide them into the pantry and the fridge, but while I am putting the food into the pantry I hear a strange ticking noise – not a like clock or a cricket ticking sound, more like someone making the noise with their tongue upon the roof of their mouth. I decide to ignore it, after all, what could it be? Most likely just another insect.

I slip into my overly comfortable pyjamas and my subtle but festive slippers then boil the kettle for my dinner.
I’m sure that ticking noise was just in my head, right? I mean, for all I know I could have been doing it without noticing it. Whether it is inside or outside my head, the ticking noise is still there!
I go upstairs and turn on my television, just to have something on in the background hoping to drown out the noise, but instead it just adds to the rhythm. I further distract myself and head to the shower. As I am getting out of the shower, I plug in the hair dryer and dry my hair.
The ticking noise never left my mind. What and where is it coming from? I decide to hop in the bed the bed and watch some Netflix. This will surely take my mind off this ongoing ticking. The mixture of exhaustion and a late night draws me into a sleep driven by dreams.
I find myself running down a long corridor following the ticking noise. My face is dripping with sweat as I frantically follow this mind obsessing noise.
I run into a room surrounded by mirrors and I see multiple forms of myself reflecting. I forget that when I am stressed or scared I woge and display my ancestry animal form. I am a Fuchsbau, a fox like wesen. My appearance follows fox ears, eyes and nose and orange and white fine fur all over my body. While in my wesen form I am more sensitive and aware of everything in my environment. I sense another form in the room.
I hide and wait to identify what trouble will come my way. The ticking has become stronger, more intense, almost a body vibration. And at that moment I knew this would turn into a nightmare, I was sure of it. This claustrophobic room was giving nothing away other than the putrid smell of danger. I continue my venture to locate the ticking noise. I hear a screaming noise coming from the distance. As I hear this voice, a girl with dark hair comes running towards me with her hands over her ears and the look of terror on her face. I run over to her aid and as I am about to ask her what happened she whispers coldly and calmly “Run. Grimm”. Instantly the ticking noise stopped. Which made it even more unsettling. Is this a good or bad thing?
In the panic of this dead silence, I quickly decide to run back down the corridor the same way I entered. However, the more I run, the longer the corridor seemed to get. Will I ever get out of here?
Just then, I noticed a door ajar off the corridor. Should I go in? This may be the exit I am looking for, but it could very well be a trap too. I deliberate on this, but in my desperate attempt to escape I find myself pushing the door open gently and stepping in. suddenly I feel light headed, I feel I am losing control of my body, my mind is still very focused on trying to escape but my body is letting me down. The pain in my head becomes too much and the last thing I remember is the ticking noise getting louder and louder.
What feels like hours later I wake up in my bed. I carefully and cautiously open my eyes having a quick glance around my room. I notice the door to my room is open. I sense a shadow within the shadow. I am unable to move with fear. I feel
extremely vulnerable, I don’t think I will be able to scream; my voice is lost. How will I get myself out of this situation?
Suddenly the familiar ticking noise reappears. My body begins to sweat, and my breathing becomes erratic. The shadow moves out of the darkness and steps into the light coming from the door. I see the infinite darkness of his eyes.
My world begins to spin, I am losing control.
The ticking noise becomes deafening…
